Original Gopher: Caddyshack (1980) A truly rare and iconic piece of comedy and film history, this is an original gopher puppet used in the production of the legendary golf comedy Caddyshack (1980), one of the very first created by John Dykstra. Directed by Harold Ramis.; Lovingly remembered for its mischievous grin and unforgettable dance moves, the gopher quickly became an unlikely star of the film, tormenting groundskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) and stealing scenes throughout. Crafted by special effects designer John Dykstra and his team. This particular gopher puppet comes directly from the personal collection of producer Mark Canton, who oversaw the production of the film at Warner Bros. Mark Canton was the executive in charge of production for the 1980 film Caddyshack. In this role, he was one of the top studio executives responsible for overseeing the film's production on behalf of Orion Pictures. It is believed to be one of the few surviving original gopher props, making it an incredibly rare offering. Comes with with RIAA Platinum Video Award Plaque with frame: 16 1/4 x 12 1/4 x 1 1/4 in. (41.3 x 31.1 x 3.2 cm.), Gopher overall: 16 1/2 x 10 in. (41.9 x 25.4 cm.)
